While we understand the need for research and understanding of the causes and triggers for mental ill health, the members who come to UKDF feel this is their safe place to express themselves. To be asked to participate in a study here that may be triggering to them is counter-productive to our mission, and as we cannot guarantee appropriate emotional support to those who may choose to participate in studies, we feel that it is in the best interest of our overall membership to not allow any links to research at all.
The Administration Team has discussed this among themselves and come to a unanimous decision regarding such requests.
Any requests we have for member participation in any such surveys will be denied and the member asking for permission will be deleted. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this decision.

UKDF Administration Team
This has been our position since UKDF came online. In April, 2009 the Administration Team reviewed this policy. After receiving the opinions of our members, it was decided that requests for research surveys would be permitted with the following restrictions:
1) A member of the Admin Team will post the link to the survey rather than allowing the researcher direct access to the forum through membership. This prevents all researchers from trying to garner additional participants by using our Personal Messenger system.
2) The participants must be guaranteed total anonymity.
3) Participant must be allowed to skip any questions that make them uncomfortable.
Any attempt by the researcher to circumvent these restrictions will result in the permanent banning of the researcher and the organization which he/she represents.
