We keep UK Depression running via member donations.

It really is a case of every little helps so if you've found the forum useful, supportive and informative and want to donate to the running costs, then you are more than welcome!

We do have a dedicated Paypal account, from which the server fees are taken every month. If you would like the Paypal details then send a PM to the Administration account and we'll pass it on.

A very big thank you to all members who have donated so far - couldn't have done it without you!

The Team xx

Hope, Administration is a joint account that all admins can access. We do try to check it daily but with the pressures of Real Life ™ sometimes it isn't always done. I was guilty of not checking the admin account last week because I was so busy at work. If admin don't respond, don't hesitate to flag it up - it's not on purpose, I promise and we'll rectify it as soon as we can!

Sorry hun, I assumed your request had been taken care of.

Annabelle & Doc are the custodians of the account that pays the server bill. I am responsible for the domain bill.

The paypal address to send funds to for the server is under the name: LoisTalk1948@aol.com. The domain bill has been taken care of for the time being.

If this doesn't work, let us know and I'll see what I can do.

Cheers,
Halva

Would more donations help to stop the board from crashing? Sorry i have no idea about these types of things, no idea how much people generally donate either.

With the crash this weekend, Doctor Strangelove upgraded the board to a larger bandwidth and storage capacity, which should stop it from crashing again. However, it also now costs about $30 a month to run.

Any donation that a member makes is a little bit more that Doc and Annabelle don't have to worry about, even if it's just $5. Anything is wonderful, and the link to the paypal account for the forum is in Doc's signature. That money goes directly to the forum.

Can I just say to any UK members able to help. Given the current exchange rates, a tenner will go a long way. If over the next few weeks even, our combined efforts only raise £50 that is six months rental. So if anyone can aford to pay the odd couple of quid through paypal, it would help us all.

Huh what do you mean by "one off's"?

Donations can be made thru Pay Pal if you have a checking account. The account is under the name LoisTalk1948@aol.com. If you need to use some other method than Pay Pal, PM me and we'll work out something.

This may be a cultural language barrier thing, I think. Yes, you can make a once only donation - no need to make regular payments!

Cheers and thanks,
Halva

Good heavens, PA! Did you think you had to pay to continue as member? You don't you know.

Jenny owns the forum site, and Halva owns the URL. If anyone wants to donate money and has it to spare, we are glad to have the help. But it isn't required by any means. Some folks have donated as little as $5, others have donated $50 or more. Whatever you want to do is fine. And we do not reveal the amount anyone donates.

The subject of money is never easy to bring up but sometimes it's necessary.

We are supported here by member donations but often the brunt of the $30 a month server bill falls to Annabelle and Jenny, supplemented by other admins when they can. In some ways, we're victims of our own success - if we weren't so popular then the service would be cheaper to run!

Obviously, we'd love this to be a completely free service to all but right now that's not the case. The reason we went from a paid board is because it means we are free from pop ups and distracting adverts and the like. I am going to investigate ways for us to receive some charitable support without having to relinquish any control or change the way we run too much, but a few dollars / pounds from members would make all the difference if they could be spared.

We realise that a lot of people here are in a bad financial situation, which is why we don't want anyone stretching themselves and doing without - but if $5 or even less would honestly make no difference to you, then we would be extremely grateful for the help.

There are a couple of ways you could donate. If you make an Ebay sale for a couple of pounds, how about donating the proceeds to UKDF?

The paypal account from which the server bill is paid is: LoisTalk1948@aol.com

And thank you to people who have donated in the past. We are very grateful.

Halva
